All Malaysians should know what kaya is! It is coconut milk jam to spread on bread like other fruit jams. The ingredients are: eggs, sugar, coconut milk and pandan (screwpine) leaf. However, I heard that it takes a couple of hours to steam it, stirring constantly…

We had a Malaysian cookbook with a recipe for kaya using a microwave, and it only needed a couple of minutes to cook. We were rather in doubt but tried to cook it… Whew, it seems very good; better than the one we bought in the Asian grocery store…
