拍賣開始是各類貨品各有限時段的靜投標，每貨品各有一張价格表让人填上所要的投標价。靜投標的貨品时段過了，誰投標最高价者就會得到該貨品。如某些貨品没人投標，就會放去另一處，按原价折扣賣出。我們買了這件貝殼項鏈。
靜投標结束后，是叫價舉手投標的时候了，說明每件貨品后，
拍賣主持人就让眾人舉自己的號碼投標。Sue 投到她女兒班级做的手工箱櫃… 我第一次看拍賣會，很新奇…不過很不能頂拍賣主持人叫價的聲音… Sue is a teacher in a Catholic school. The things in the auction are art projects made by the students or donated by individuals or company sponsors. It had both a silent auction and live auction. They started with the silent auction. Every section of things has a time limit. The silent auction means every item has a bid list, and people can write their bid on the list of the thing they want. When a section closed, the person with the highest bid on the list gets the item. Those things that were not bid on were placed in another area to sell at a discounted price. We bought a shell necklace. After the silent auction closed, it was time for the live auction. Someone reads the description of an item, and then the auctioneer takes bids on the item from people raising their number. Sue got a handcrafted chest made by her daughter’s class… It was the first time I’ve seen an auction; it was a new experience…but I couldn’t stand the noise of the auctioneer…
