Job ads

When we were on the American Airlines airplane and I saw the flight attendants who were middle age and a little heavy, mostly they did not have a very gentle disposition. I whispered to Steve, “Their flight attendants couldn’t compare with Asian airlines.” Steve agreed and said to me, “I felt rather strange…when I saw the job ads in Malaysia had age requirements! Under the laws here, generally companies can’t specify an employee’s age, race or gender.”

Oh yeah! In Malaysia, if you are over the age requirement mentioned in the job ads, do you dare to interview for the job? You might feel that age is one of your difficulties in job-hopping.

Here, you might see some grandmothers and grandfathers working in stores. Nevertheless, some professional jobs, companies here might discriminate based on age, race, etc., but they will always give a different reason for rejecting someone for a position, like “we found someone with better qualifications.”
