Global warming

Ahh…the weather is so hot! Did you know…the temperature here is around 100F (37C) this week. Umm! Is it hotter than Penang?

Recently, there was a show on TV about Global warming… some glaciers were melting, some animals couldn’t survive, some places flooded in some countries and some people lost their homes… Yesterday, some areas in New York were flooded…

I am sorry to talk about bad news, but I wish you can think: Can we do something?

Dear lktan-sinee,

Global warming is a result of the Sun and the normal cycles it goes thought. It is NOT caused by mankind, at least not more than 1% or so. Not to despair. This issue has become a political issue and has lost all connection to real science. It is now a large industry for lots of people who's job depends on keeping the myth going that it is caused by man. Therefore you will continue to hear about this problem and how we must all do our part to save the planet. If you would like to know more I can send you links that explain the real story behind this panic.

As for 100 degrees in MO this happens every year in the summer in many parts of this country. In MO you have both heat and high humidity giving a very high heat index. This makes it feel even hotter. Penang is surrounded by the sea and this keeps the temperature more consistent. In the winter it will get much colder and you will see snow. These are all normal for most of North America.

Regards,

Russell
