Downtown

Stranssen Fest

We went to some activities which were downtown this weekend. We were on the commuter train, um! I saw… is this boy’s fashion nowadays? I have no idea how to describe it, so I took a sneaky picture of him to show off the pants… He pulled up his pants a little bit while walking out to the station, but the pants were still below his butt. In order to show off to people, even if it’s uncomfortable it doesn’t bother them? You can often see black women & girls with unique hair styles…

Our first stop was Union Station. This was a railway train station a long time ago, but the trains no longer use this station and it became a shopping plaza. There is one place with beautiful architecture and a mysterious Whispering Arch. We stood separately, 40 feet apart, at each side of the arch and talked to the stone wall. I could hear his voice coming from the wall. Ha-ha! We talked to each other by 1890’s ‘wireless communication’…

A fountain with naked statues is opposite Union Station. The residents objected to the naked statues in public when it was installed around 1940. Steve doesn’t understand why TV and movies with nudity are not allowed, but violence is ok.

Penang has many big and small temples in every area; St. Louis has many big and small churches. Downtown has some beautiful old architecture…

Strassenfest, a German festival, was being held downtown. From the decoration, you can see that beer is the theme of the festival…

We went to The Arch again. A few weeks ago, the trams which take passengers to the top of The Arch had a problem and people were jammed inside for about two hours. We did not go to the top this time. We wanted to see the fireworks which were the last event of the “Live on the Levee” celebration, a free weekly concert series. We sat on the field and listened to the live band. I saw people in the crowd and think…I never dreamed I would be in the US
