Sainte Genevieve is a small river town in southeastern Missouri, dating back to early French settlers.

Like many small towns, Ste. Genevieve has renovated their downtown area to attract tourists. The streets are lined with small shops and bed-and-breakfast places.
The architecture of each building is unique. Many of the buildings were originally built over 100 years ago.
Sara's Ice Cream shop was a nice break from walking around town. They still make malts in the traditional way.
The ferry is the easiest way to cross the river into Illinois. The closest bridge across the river is about 20 miles from town.
Southeastern Missouri has many parks and conservation areas where hiking is allowed. This was at Hawn State Park.
Hickory Canyons Conservation Area has a nice hiking trail. The sign claims it's a 1 mile loop, but it felt much longer.
