The fifth day, the driver took us to the old JiJi train station.
Not going to ride the train, but just to have a look.
This town and station were built with cypress during the Japanese occupation.
The temple is famous. It has the 7 Stars Toilet, inspired by bamboo shoots.
Just go inside & have a pee, it is free, and the inside is beautifully done.

And we stopped at another place, a temple.
I didn't plan for these two places and I didn't search or read about their histories.

This dog's fur lines look like a tiger, and he's carrying an advertisement for his human's fruit stall.
The journey drove by several tea plantations.
Here we were in FengQiHu.
It's a little town for those going to/from Alishan.
The forest has a lot of valuable cypress trees.
This man opened a restaurant selling lunch boxes to local workers. His restaurant is now famous, and the food is still served in lunch boxes.
After we had our lunch prepared in lunch boxes (NT$120), we moved on.
It's was evening when we arrived at Alishan National Park (entrance fee NT$150).
The hotel staff helped us booked a sunrise tour for the next morning.
The tour guide came at 5:10 am, he told us: "I need to mention that you probably won't see the sunrise, because it was cloudy and raining. If you guys still insist to go for it, we can. If you guys decide not to go, it is all right, I won't charge any fee."
I said: "I am grateful you told us. We decided not to go as there's no point to the tour with no sunrise. I really appreciate your honesty, please give me your name card, I might come again next time."
The weather was cold; we were the earliest customers in the restaurant to get our hot buffet breakfast.
The two big Chinese characters = 'Toothpick'.
Apparently, toothpicks are very important...or the staff just got annoyed by too many people asking where the toothpicks are!
We had full energy, let's go to work.
Ah.. wrong word, should be let's have fun.
We took the bus (ticket NT$50) in the park.
This is an old cypress tree, very straight and hard, lasts for long time.
A tour guide with his group and all other people headed to the park after getting off the bus.
However, we didn't follow them but went in to this hut.
Hehe.. the spider web is pretty, but there are some very large cypress wood carvings in the hut.
I don't want to show picture here because you need to see them yourself. Believe me.
And seen from the top floor of the hut, doesn't this beautiful scene seem a little like a European countryside?
Ah, we saw blue sky eventually.
The park is 2170 meters above sea level. We felt wonderful when we were in the park atmosphere.
A fresh green bath. So nice!
Received all the good energy.
Ahh! Who posted it?
One of the Sister ponds.
Four sisters - Four cypress tress are together.
Some cypress tress are several hundred years old, and we saw one that is 2100 years old.
We love it!
I saw most of the Taiwan tours don't include this place.
I was glad I planned to visit here but lack of time to hike other trails.
I want to come again for 2 nights if possible. I have the information and may organize a group, anyone interested?
In the park is a temple, we just had a quick look.
Then we were left by the little park train.
After we left Alishan, the driver took us to a trail at RuiTai.
960 m hike to the Thunder falls.
We didn't make it to the falls in the distance.
I like the hot pot noodle soup on the wood stand.
This is ZhuQi Riverside Park.
We stayed in TaiChung for a night.
The sixth Day, I wanted to buy the largest wok and the biggest water pitcher from this potter I knew of in TaiChung.
But Steve worried about hand carrying them all the way back home.
In the end, the medium clay pot which I didn't think to have is back home.
The hired car ended when we arrived back in Taipei. The driver dropped my friends at the National Museum. He had been there before, and they both love the antiques.
And he dropped us at YehLiu Geological Park (entrance fee NT$80).
Which one is the Queen's Head?
I went to the Queen's restroom.
Huh.. there is also one for the King.
化石。
Some fossils.
After that, we took a bus to meet Sophia in the Taipei station.
Thanks to our friend Shu-Lin, who introduced me to Sophia when Shu-Lin knew that I was planning a Taiwan trip. She said Sophia had tour leader experience. I contacted her and she gave me some information.
Our meeting was excellent, I really appreciated her passion, generosity, and kindness. Such a wonderful lady.

I wanted to thank SweeLi and Tom for providing some information also.

Love those pics taken in Alishan, the air seems so fresh and the forest is full of phytocide. You had a great journey and experience in such a short time in Taiwan. Welcome next time for a longer vacation!
