Heart-shaped stand

My friend asked me to go with her to Goodwill store (a nonprofit organization).  It was my first time going there.
What caught my eye in the store?
A heart-shaped stand.

So, my inner child and my rational adult had a little argument at that moment.
Inner child: I want it.
Rational adult: No, we already have a lot of things that we don't really need.
Inner child: It's okay, just to have one more thing.
Rational adult: No, that's why we have a lot of things.
Inner child: But it is really pretty, and you know I like heart-shaped things.
Rational adult: It's not really a fine piece, and has been used by someone.
Inner child: Because it was handmade.
Rational adult: $15 is not worth it.
Inner child: I think the unique design should be worth it.

In the end, you know who won the argument!

I have the same arguments with myself, but they usually involve chocolate, rather than furniture.

I like it! GoodWill has some good deals, and you are supporting the people who work there. If it makes you feel any better, I'm quite sure that I have a LOT more stuff that I don't need than you do. :)

Goodwill is great. I dump a lot of stuff there that I would have no other way of getting rid of. You were right about the $15 though. I would have offered them $5. And they would have said no, and then I would have paid the $15, lol. It's a pretty little table, and when you get tired of it, you can donate it to Goodwill. :)

Inner child: I am glad, Shannon, Carol you release my guilt.

Rational adult: You girls not helping, you feeding inner child with more greed.

We are supporting your decision. *smile*

You are supporting the good work Goodwill does both by your purchase and by your eventual donation, and taking your inner child out for a little party at Christmas! Maybe you could decoupage or paint the little table, so eventually you pass it on to someone else in better condition than when you bought it. (I am full of rationalizations!) I have a very plain bookshelf that I first painted white, then covered with a piece of lace and spray painted a silvery color through the lace. It makes a pretty design.

We should never stop feeding our inner child. Once we do, we stop having fun.

The table would look great, if you placed some plants on the shelves.
