Joan, do you know what is the purpose of that 'pot' on the floor?

Steve said it is toilet. This is the bedroom of Shaw house in Missouri Botanical Garden.

I thought it was your new bathroom!

These are original furnishings in the Shaw house, from the 1800's. I doubt we could afford any of them.

I believe that the jar in the front of the picture, on the floor, is a chamber pot.

According the old Chinese tradition/custom, one of the bride dowry is chamber pot.
