France - Paris

今生有幸,認識相公,年年都去旅行慶祝我的生日。
還給我紅包,花開富貴。
My birthday trip starts..

We arrived our hotel in Paris in evening, I found Chinese food.

We asked our hotel's staff, what we can see around, he mentioned a cathedral near by. So we walked to the cathedral (Basilique du Sacre Coeur), apparently there had a feast and so crowded.
When we wanted to get inside the cathedral, the guard said: Closed.
 It's 10 pm, oh well.

We bought a 3 days pass, included 1 day Hop On Hop Off Open Tour bus & 2 days Museums pass.
The first one, we went to Louvre Museum.

Louvre Museum

Orsay Museum

The pass included a river cruise.

Very nice view.

很奇特的水果,華人商店老板娘說是從非洲來的。有點酸。
I tried a strange fruit which imported from Africa, a little sour.

2nd day, we went to Versailles.
Of course, a long line to go in the Versailles Palace.

排了長龍進去路易士王宮。
We saw the line longer than earlier when we got out of the palace, and we laughed.

Gelato cheers to Cathedrale Notre-Dame.

The window glasses are so beautiful.

Pantheon, but I don't know why we didn't go in.

Gelato with macaron.

看,彩虹雲。
The rainbow cloud at Concorde.

La Madeleline, we were lazy to cross the road to go in.

We took bus, passed by Moulin Rouge.

A store full of chocolate.

又再走上很高的教堂,却告訴我們說,關門了!
We walked up hill to Basilique du Sacre Coeur, and it just closed (7 pm.) We couldn't get in again.

The tiny lift has 2 doors, you need to hand open the door at the floor when the lift auto-open it's door. In fact we were staying in a hostel, not a hotel.

3rd day, first we stopped at Opera Granier

還好我不貪。
We think that we might have met a scam when we came out from Opera Garnier. We walked around, a lady walked opposite in front us, bent down to pick up something, and she showed to me, that's a gold male wedding ring. She put on and off her finger, and hold my hand up, put the ring to my finger.
She said : "It doesn't fit my finger, the ring for you, today is my birthday, you are lucky and have good marriage." She hugged us.
I was surprised, said: "Thank you."
She: "Can you spare me coffee and a sandwich?"
I grab all coins from my handbag, handed to her: "I don't know how much is here, is it ok?"
She: "No, just 3 Euro, not enough. I need coffee and sandwich."
We both said: "Sorry, we don't have more money, we will leave tomorrow"
She took out the ring from my finger: "You see this is 18 karat. 10 Euro."
I said: "I don't have more money, give me back my coins." We left.

After that, we had discussion about this..
We crossed the road to the Perfume Museum.

An old "perfume organ" at the perfume museum. Each small bottle contains a different fragrance which are blended to create a new perfume. They said there are over 2,000 base fragrances, so this represents only a small subset of fragrances available.

Then, we went to Eiffel again.

We think to go up the top but the line was too long, so we gave up.

When we arrived, the Arc de Triomphe was closed off and a large crowd was gathered. The street was lined with French and Korean flags.

There was a group at the arch and we saw rows of soldiers on horseback waiting to escort a visiting dignitary.
We had to wait about an hour to visit the arch, but it was nice seeing the ceremony and parade.

We waited until re-opened for public, and we found it's free today to go upstairs.

A view of the Champs Elysees from atop the Arc De Trriomphe. At the far end is the Louvre.

We still have time, so we went to stop at the Bastille for few minutes.

The shower in bathroom also tiny, I think it is about 2' x 2', small for me and so small for Steve.
We stayed 4 nights.
