Where Malaysia is

It is less frequent to hear Malaysians asking where America is, but many Americans still ask where Malaysia is.

I met some Americans who asked me where I am from, I said Malaysia. Some were quiet; I am not sure whether they know or heard about Malaysia. Some would be honest and ask where is it?

I question back, “Do you know Singapore and Thailand?” “Yeah!”

Malaysia is between them!

I don’t know if I should feel shame and ridicule myself that ‘BOLEH’ and ‘1Malaysia’ (government slogans) are not good enough? Or I should console myself and think Americans see and hear little about the world outside?
