Inheritance?

I posted a question to my friends (who are studying psychology/counseling):

Are disorders, such as violent behavior, depression, compulsive behavior disorder or harmful behavior to self or other will be inherited by future generations? Which branch of psychology talks about genetic inheritance?

I wanted to share this response (I got his permission):

The Biopsychosocial Model has clearly explained this. "Genetic inheritance" is only one of the domains that contributed to mental disorders. Mental disorders are hardly ever limited to just one domain of human experience.

Although many research had suggested many mental disorders clients had family history, this does not implies that genetic inheritance is the main contributing factors to all kind of mental disorders. When someone has mentally ill in a family, a child in the family would experience more stress than most of his/her peers (Psychological Domain) and probably has an atypical growing up environment (Social Domain). When these psycho-social factors, combined with the biological predisposing factors, they increase the likelihood of an individual to be a mental health service user.

In other words, if the offspring of mental health service users could understand their parents' condition, knowing how the illness had affected them, unconditionally accept their family environment, learning to cope and response to life challenges effectively, as well as having healthy interpersonal and social supports, they would able to greatly decrease their likelihood of 'inheriting' mental disorders from their parents.

Biopsychosocial Theory

Coconut egg tarts

First time making these coconut egg tarts. Tasty success!

I will bring these tarts to my friend's house to share.

I like coconut tart and egg tart, so I made coconut egg tarts... tasty success!
My husband is always picky food, didn't want to have a bite, 不給我臉!(in Chinese, if translate directly: 'didn't give me face'. who want to help me to tell what it means?)
I will share these tarts with friends, maybe they will appreciate.

An additional seasoning

Two days ago, a friend and I went to a chinese resturant for lunch. We ordered an eggplant dish and fried noodles. We were enjoying the tasty eggplant they cooked, when the dish was almost half gone, my friend found an additional seasoning - a bug (about 1.5-2cm size). This additional thing was not be appreciated at all as he is a vegetarian.
How would you react when the waiter said they will cook a new one for you to take away?

Canada - Niagara Falls

It was a good plan to go up in Skylon Tower in the evening. The ticket is C$12 plus tax, but you can find C$2 coupons in tourist information books at the information centers.

The top of Skylon Tower was a great place to see the beautiful sunset (around 8.45pm in late May.)

Colored lights illuminate the Falls starting from 9pm every night.

And fireworks at 10pm every Friday and Sunday.

People Mover bus ticket is C$11.30 for two days (all day pass but they don't sell for just one day).

We stopped at Floral Clock & saw a cute little racoon.

We stopped and visited Ten Thousand Buddhas Temple, a free thing to do. (opposite the White Water Walk)

We stopped at the Whirlpool Aero Car station, but it wasn't running at that time because of high winds.

We stopped at Niagara Glen, and hiked on the trails. From there we saw the Whirlpool jet boats, the blue is covered and the red one is open, so you must be prepared to get soaked.

We stopped at Queenston Heights Park.  This was the northern-most stop on the People Mover bus.

A black squirrel.

A view from funicular (inclined rail) C$2.50 for a one way ride, or C$6 for an all-day pass.

And they have gambling...

US - Niagara Falls

We flew to the Buffalo airport, which is closest to Niagara Falls. When we walked out into the arrival hall, we found on the right was the taxi stand and the left was the local bus stop. Our hotel reservation was on the Canada side.  We asked the price of taxi - $90 for 2 people. Then we went to the left to ask about the local bus.  Two drivers told us we can take bus no. 204 from the airport into town and change to bus no. 40. $2 per person for a bus trip, that means just $8 for both of us to get to the US side of Niagara Falls. The bus driver was kind to tell us where to get off to change bus no. 40. When we were riding bus no. 40, I was wondering how can a local bus across the border to Canada, whether we should ask another passager or driver again? Steve kept saying he trusted what the two drivers at the airport told us:  bus no. 40 will go to the Canada side. Are most men a little stuborn and don't like to ask someone? Well, when I saw the bus passed by a place that looked like the border but still going on to another stop. I couldn't stand it anymore, and I asked the driver who told me this bus does not go across into Canada.  We should go down and walk back to the border. Oh oh...

We walked three times across the Rainbow bridge to Canada from USA, but Steve carried his garment bag and brief case in the first walk to the hotel.

We bought tickets for the Maid of the Mist (boat cruise), boarding on the US side, for $15.50/pax.

The ticket price for Cave of the Winds was $11 and provided a pair of sandals, we should have bought this ticket before going on Maid of the Mist. Steve's shoes were soaked after the cruise.

The Niagara Scenic Trolley is $2.

However, we didn't notice there is a good package deal in Niagara USA, it is $33. The Discovery Pass includes: Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, Niagara Gorge Discovery Center, Aquarium of Niagara, Legends of Adventure Movie (Niagara) and one day of unlimited transportation throughtout the park of the Niagra Scenic Trolley. I would recommended this package if visiting the USA side.
